Super Blood Eclipse

September 12, 2015

How the moon delights in shifting its shade to look like the sun. A scattering of visible light curiously achieved by placing the earth in between itself and the glowing orb.

Moire’s catwalk develops its first project in conversation with the BLOOD SUPERMOON ECLIPSE. Finding ourselves positioned in this way, we will also find an orbit between one roof and another. Starting at the Sorauren Dog park (NE corner closest to train tracks) at 19:30 we will make our way to the top of a nearby vacant building. After a short stay, we will slowly rotate to the rooftop at 3 Geoffrey Street where we will listen to Liev Schreiber's reading of Italo Calvino's short story, "The Distance of the Moon" (from Calvino's collection Cosmicomics, 1965) followed by Max Richter's 8-hour composition, "Sleep" - a lullaby for the moon. With both our eyes and the orb in the sky drooping, the hope is that our minds will wander. Lighting will be provided by celestial bodies, the atmosphere, and small moonlights. Moon masks will be made on the first roof (supplies provided). Sadly, the moon and sun are not able to wait for any of us, but it is possible to realign at various points across the curve of the night.

In the spirit of the event, please wear all black and/or grey and/or red. If you have a small light source bring it along with liquid to quench your thirst and something to nibble on, perhaps.

It will be cold and we will be outside.
